Imagine getting as much Narcan as you can get your hands on. Putting it in your car, your kitchen, your purse because you lay in bed wondering WHEN it will happen again, because you know without help it will.
Kaya is a bright beautiful young woman. From the time she was the smallest girl she displayed a sweetness and immense sense of empathy for people. While her greatest gift, it has also been her greatest curse.
Bearing the weight of the world can be a tough journey. And for Kaya this, coupled with her own trauma, and a few wrong turns she unfortunately turned to unhealthy and tragic means for coping.
At twenty years young Kaya is is the fight for her life. She is currently recieving treatment for addictions at a renowned medical facility in British Columbia. For those who have never had the misfortune of knowing addiction you may not realize or you may even downplay the life threatening nature of addiction.
Kaya’s family knows it’s danger far too well. Addiction has almost taken her three times. No mother should ever witness her child being resuscitated, no child should bare the guilt of having her mother witness it.
Kaya is determined now more than ever to change her story. She is putting in the work every day to not only overcome her addiction, but also relearn how to manage her emotions, while simultaneously confronting years of trauma.
Sadly, this story doesn’t end here. On July 5th 2020 Kaya tragically lost her father only a month into her road to sobriety. The financial strain of treatment was already challenging for both her mom and dad to manage, but now, they are dealing with immeasurable grief and loss of income.
Though we cannot fathom this journey being any more difficult for Kaya, her strength and grace through this time of adversity has left her loved ones hopeful. In a very short period Kaya’s successes have been profound which tells us she’s where she needs to be. Please help us keep her in treatment so that Kaya can continue fighting her battle. We still have a long way to go before reaching the $15,000 needed for Kaya to complete the program. Thank you for helping save our sweet girls life.
