Please Help Us Save Gimli – He’s Fighting So Hard, but He Can’t Live Like This
Gimli was found dumped in a box as a tiny kitten and taken to a vet. We then took him on he was quite poorly with cat flu and an abnormal bottom. His car flu cleared up he grew and our wonderful vets did lots of intervention to help his bottom even a surgery to help him. It worked really well at first he did amazingly for nearly two weeks but sadly a stricture has formed and he can't poo .
The problem is serious. Gimli can’t live without being able to poo. However even with this issue he has been so happy in himself playing, purring, loving life so we believe he deserves a chance.
Today, we took him to a soft tissue specialist. They’ve made a treatment plan that means he needs to be admitted for at least 5 days. Each day the vets will carry out a bottom stretching procedure to try to fix the issue. If this works, it could save his life. If not, the next option is a rectal pull-through surgery or possible others surgeries.
Both options come with risks, but if we can help him, Gimli could live a comfortable and happy life and currently if we don't our only option is to put him to sleep. So the risks are worth it for him to live a good life.
The estimate for this stage of his care is between £2,000–£3,000, which may rise if he needs specialist imaging or the pull-through surgery. Gimli’s care has already cost us just over £3,000, but how can we put a price on his life?
He is the happiest most playful loving kitten he deserves a chance . All he loves to do is curl up on your neck like a scarf and purr or play with his toys .
