Hi my name is Helena and I’m here on behalf of my sister in law Rhea whose family was recently struck by grief that no parent should ever have to go through.

On the 3rd of January 2026 Rhea’s brother lost his wife in a tragic motorbike crash, leaving behind her husband and her 2 year old son Yulo. From losing his mother in January to fighting for his own life in February is something no child should have to go through and no father should have to endure. Yulo developed tuberculous meningitis and on the 17th of February he needed life saving emergency surgery to relieve the pressure on his brain and stop the seizures that were killing him. By some miracle Yulo survived this first surgery but the fight is not yet over, another surgery is required and a minimum of 2 weeks to recover in hospital will be needed, and a lifetime of medical bills in return. We are here to try help a family who has already lost so much to not let the financial burdens of medical debt ruin the rest of their lives the way it has for so many others.

Yulo and his father live over in the Philippines and medical bills are adding up to far more than they could pay. For us here in the UK £5,000 is not a difficult target for many people but in the Philippines this may be impossible.

Friends and family have helped where they can but we can only give so much. So we ask you to please consider donating anything that you can spare to help this little boy and his father to not be bankrupted by grief and medical bills.
