Please help us recover from the Hawkesbury Floods

Donation protected

Hi friendly folk

This pic sums it up for me - my gorgy Husband is standing at our cottage and our valley is completely immersed along with the Tractor, horse paddocks and fencing, dog run - chicken run, gazebo.....  I’ve never seen my Husband so nervous.

Here’s our story......

15weeks ago today my Husband Sir Richy the kind-hearted (a name my parents gave to him some 23yrs ago when they met) and I went thru a Renal Transplant together (my Husband the recipient and myself the donor).....  It was a miracle to see him OFF dialysis.

Since that Operation on the 22/10/19 we encountered the Gospers Mountain fire threats on our doorstep and months n months of relentless stress as I managed alone on our off grid property post surgery and my husband resided at a Hospital in Sydney for daily anti-rejection appoints.....  so grateful to friends who supported us....

We are pretty positive people but this journey has just slowly ground us down with the fires - my husband facing early rejection of his new organ (which is now being monitored with a different drug) and challenge after challenge, all the while my income halted completely in its tracks as I healed.....

This weekend, as many of you know, arrived with a record breaking flood and took the Hawkesbury and many other parts of NSW by surprise.... so much damage and destruction off the back of the heartbreaking fires Australia has endured.   I think we all need to telepathically communicate next time we pray for rain because rain it did - 400 + mm in but a few days.....  I’m grateful to the areas it has helped but sadly it was insult to injury for many.....

We were terrified and nearly lost all our infrastructure, the flood levels rose so quickly - our entire valley went under.....

However apart from all the damage and the leaks and flooding of parts of our home, horse paddocks torn up, chicken run ruined and trees and debris down everywhere on our access road (plus mountains and mountains of silt and sand and mud) we are OK - huge exhale.....buuuuuut..... our trusty ol’ Fiat Tractor is not and she went under..... completely under......

They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger but this journey has well n truly nearly beaten us.

We would luv to get our own back hoe/excavator to be able to help us.... to raise some funds to fix the damage this devastating body of water created.

We are still currently trapped on our property, unable to drive out until the causeway is accessible after the flood waters subside but we know the damage will be excessive (our driveway is 3.5km with a creek crossing).   It’s going to be some time before we can drive off the land.....

I’ve never done anything like this before.... Its definitely “out-Texan’d” the floods of 2013.  I’ve never reached out with my own hand out except to help others....  that’s where I shine I guess - I’m usually in the caregiving role nurturing others or organising things for them.  That’s what fills my love tank.   I massage and treat people holistically as a Naturopath and teach Yoga so this wasn’t easy to sit down and write.... but I have and this is us..... our Transplant journey from GO to WHOAH...... certainly wasn’t smooth sailing huh (pardon the pun)!!!!!

I dont mind if it’s $1 and hey - maybe if u live close I can help u back one day or pay it forward but please consider our journey - any support would be welcomed....

I will close by saying thank u to our amazing fire and rescue crew.... it makes me very proud to be an Aussie when SH%# hits the fan..... people are there for one another....

Thank u so much for reading our story and in Yoga we simply say Namaste which means the higher place in my heart respects the higher place in yours xmwahx

Much love light n laughter
Julie and Sir Richy the kind-hearted (my Hubby)
