Hi everyone. I'm Kayla, and with my wife Andi, we are attempting to raise funds from our generous community. We are embarrassed and shameful to admit we have inadvertently fallen for a scam, and as such a person has gained unauthorized access to our bank account.

What seemed like a loan at first, was actually our own money, funded from unauthorized reversals filed within our bank account. The reversals were compromised of rent payments, car insurance premiums, and payments we made to a debt consolidation program.

We've been told by our bank that it seems we've caught the scam early, and that this method of scamming is becoming common nowadays. However, the damage is already done.

In total, for full transparency, we have lost over $2,600. $2,600 we apparently will not be getting back.

We've taken all the steps we can think of. Frozen the bank account, locked the cards, reported this to the FTC, etc. We've even been in contact with the Lexington police's financial crimes division, as now the scammers are calling Andi's phone constantly and sending vaguely threatening text messages.

We've reached the point of finding things in our house to sell, things we love. I've listed Andi's PS5 system on Marketplace, as well as my faithful KitchenAid stand mixer. I can deliver Instacart groceries for small cash, but only after my regular job each day. I've applied for some secondary part-time positions, but that's not immediately helpful. We've even looked into the steps to donate plasma, every avenue is being explored while we're in this horrible limbo.

We are simply asking for help, as hard as it is in these times. I'm terrified, full transparency. I am scared, as the money we've lost won't allow us to cover all of the reversals of our rent payments, and we could never make up the difference in time. We can't face eviction, we'd have absolutely nowhere to go. My support system is limited, and they already live with me.
