Hi, my name is Annalise and I’m raising funds for my frenchie Rambo. Writing this I don’t even know where to start because we are living our worst nightmare, on Saturday 6th September Rambo started showing signs that he was in discomfort and acting strange, my partner went to let him out for the toilet and all of a sudden he was squealing in pain, we calmed him down for a few minutes and spoke about what could be wrong with him and decided to call the vet, they told us to bring him in so we did so, when she checked him over she said that he has a slipped disk in his back and it could be inflamed causing it to trap the nerves, so they gave Rambo anti inflammatory and pain medication, we spoke to the vet and went back home and were told to keep him crate rested and keep updating her, a couple hours went by and Rambo decided to try to sit up, when he did so the same thing happened again, he started falling all over the floor and had no control over his back legs or bladder, during the incident ended up biting my partner, we took him straight back to the emergency vets and she said the exact same thing as the first vet, I have asked for lots of advice on the situation and I feel this could be a case of IVDD, however we can’t determine anything without a MRI scan which would then tell us what the problem is so we can make a start on treating him or seeing what options we have like possibly surgery. This is all a massive shock to us as a family and it’s kind of like our life has just turned upside down, I can’t sleep at night, sick to my stomach wondering what’s going to happen, Rambo is now on day 3 and he is rested and does definitely seem to be doing better, he is on a high dose of medication, regularly.
however we are not sure if he can even feel his back legs, he cannot walk on them or stand, only on his front legs. He is still eating and drinking there is still light in his eyes and he does seem to be recovering, I just know whatever this is it’s going to be a long road now. Medication, scans, therapy and so much more and that’s if we get lucky. Please take a minute to read our story, this is the kind I read myself on social media and it touches my heart because how can a happy 3 year old dog just change overnight, but unfortunately it does happen. Rambo has been by my side through thick and thin and I mean that when I say it whole heartedly, I owe it to him to do all that I can to help him and make him as comfortable as possible , a little bit about Rambo’s story so far is over on my Tik [email redacted]aliax
please show us some support wherever you can even if it’s just friendly advice, sharing our gfm or videos.
i will update more on here over the days as I find out more and get some updates but for now there aren’t many more answers I can get until he has had an MRI scan, Thankyou so much for reading if you got this far it means more than anything xx
