Hi, my name is Kim, I’m here to raise money for our dear friend Jodie.

On Thursday 20th November, our dear friend Jodie was involved in a serious road traffic accident.

The collision occurred on French Lane at around 6:30am. Jodie had just dropped her daughter off for an interview and was driving with her dog, Pandora, in the back of the car.

Details of the accident remain unclear due to Jodie’s severe injuries and concussion, but we know that her car was T-boned by an ambulance transportation vehicle. Her car was completely written off, and the ambulance drivers were treated for shock at the scene.

Pandora was taken to the vets, where she was treated for minor hip injuries. Thankfully, after some rest, she has now made a full recovery.

Jodie, unfortunately, was not so lucky.

She sustained multiple fractures to her pelvis, seven broken ribs, a broken collarbone and sternum, a punctured lung, and a severe facial laceration that required emergency surgery by the plastics team at Southmead Hospital.

Jodie spent over a week in Southmead. Thanks to her incredible strength and determination, she has since been moved closer to home to begin her rehabilitation, where physiotherapists can work closely with her due to the extensive trauma to her pelvis. She is doing remarkably well, and her resilience continues to amaze us every single day. However, she has a long road ahead before she will be fully recovered.

Jodie is a single mum who works tirelessly to provide for her children who live with her, as well as supporting her older children who have moved out. Her job working with young offenders is demanding, stressful, and requires her to be physically fit—something her injuries now prevent.

With only basic statutory sick pay to rely on, Jodie is currently left with almost nothing to support herself or her family. She has no car, cannot work, and is unable to provide in the way she desperately wants to.

As her friends, we have decided to step up and ask everyone who knows and loves Jodie to help in any way they can during this incredibly challenging time.

We know this is a big ask—especially at this time of year—and we don’t expect miracles. But any amount you can spare, big or small, will make a real difference. Donations can be made anonymously, so please don’t feel worried or judged.
