This is Toby, he is a 7 year old blue fawn French bulldog who was rescued when he was 2 at the start of lockdown in 2020. His background and reasoning for being recused was that he was kept in an outdoor kennel for the first two years of his life and had never learnt to play with toys or been walked on a lead. The first day we rescued Toby he was petrified and cowered under tables away from people, we took him to training classes and taught him that everything was okay and how to walk on and off a lead. A year later Toby was passed as a registered therapy dog for my dad who suffers with dementia, Toby has been my dads life since the day we brought him home and goes into a dementia day centre with my dad 4 days a week which has such a positive impact on the individuals mental and emotional wellbeing. Unfortunately in June Toby went to the vets due to a lump on his leg which was deemed to be a fatty tissue however 2 weeks ago he underwent a CT scan and biopsy where we got the news it was a cancerous lump which needed to be removed. All in all Toby’s treatment from start to finish is going to cost around £4,500 as his insurance has declined the claim due to them classing it as pre-existing condition. This operation means more than just curing Toby this is keeping my dads life and soul going and everyone else he supports with dementia.
Thank you for reading Toby’s story, as you can imagine we are all extremely heartbroken and distraught by the news for Toby, any donations would be entirely grateful for.
