On Christmas Eve, I found out that my 5 year-old dog, Zeus, has a condition called hip dysplasia.
In dogs with hip dysplasia, the ball and socket do not fit or develop properly, and they rub and grind instead of sliding smoothly. This results in deterioration over time and an eventual loss of function of the joint itself.
Both of Zeus’s hips are deteriorating because they’re both displaced. His knees are inflamed so he’s limping around the house.
Trupanion (pet insurance) does not cover the surgery because they consider it a “pre-existing condition”. I come from a single-parent, low-income household so we cannot afford the surgery. My mom is currently out of work and I’m a full-time student in my fourth year of university.
Please find it in your hearts to donate. Zeus means a lot to me, my sister, my grandma, uncle and mother. He is our family dog and he’s only 5. Anything helps. God bless.
