Please Help Us Move Along

We never thought we would be in a situation asking for help, but timing has not been on our side over the past eight months.

We moved into our current rental with my mother 10 years ago when my father became ill. For the past 4 years, we cared for her full time with the assistance of home-care aids twice a day.

With my mother gone now, we are no longer in need of, nor can we continue to afford, a rental of the current size we are in.

Our landlord who had been generous to us over the last 10 years has decided to raise the rent significantly to keep up with current prices in this area, which is completely understandable, but could not have come at a worse time for us given the current rental market.

We are aiming to move into a smaller, less expensive rental. While we are looking at options in a range we are comfortable with month-to-month going forward, we have to be out by the end of June, which requires significant extra expenses such as the security deposit and moving costs. Even with Alan’s work being steady during this time of year, we are unable to cover these immediate and necessary costs on top of our regular rent and bills.

In addition to all of this, our 2006 Honda Pilot is in need of major repairs to continue to be reliable transportation for Alan to get to work.

I’m embarrassed to be in this position but we need help given the current circumstances. Our savings were depleted during the pandemic since all of Alan’s work relies on entertainment events and conventions, and those are not yet abundant enough to replenish those savings. With the expenses involved in securing a new rental, moving, and major car repairs, as well as ongoing health concerns, this has been an extremely stressful time for our family, and we just don’t have the ability to do this alone.

I know so many have suffered financially over the past several years, and please do not feel obligated if you are not in a position to help. If there’s any way you can, either by contributing or sharing with someone who can, we will be forever grateful.
