Please Help Us Keep Jennene Here

She’s a mom, a partner, and the heart of so many lives, and right now, she urgently needs surgery and specialized treatment to survive a rare, aggressive cancer that's come back stronger.

First, we want to acknowledge that there are a lot of intense and overwhelming things happening in the world right now. So many people are carrying their own challenges, and we truly send love and compassion to anyone who needs it.

We’re writing this because the only hope we have for someone we love facing something unimaginably difficult is to ask for your help. So here we are.

Jennene needs at least $250,000 for the specialized private medical care and travel that may be the only chance at saving her life. We’re setting our starting goal at $150,000, but this is just the beginning, and we’ll keep going until we reach what she needs.

A bit about Jennene:

For those who may be hearing about Jennene for the first time, she’s the mother of a beautiful seven-year-old daughter, Isla Rae, a devoted partner to Michael, a loving sister, and a deeply cherished friend. She’s wickedly funny, incredibly kind, unbelievably strong, and one of the most vibrant people you could ever meet. The world is simply better with her in it, which is why we’re doing everything we possibly can to keep her here.

Her first cancer diagnosis:

In 2023, at just 40 years old, Jennene was diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive cancer called primary angiosarcoma of the breast (PAB). Despite 13 rounds of chemotherapy, the tumour continued to grow. She underwent a major mastectomy, followed by two additional surgeries to remove surrounding skin, tissue, and even part of her chest muscle in an effort to fully remove the cancer. She then endured 39 rounds of radiation.

Over the next two years, Jennene was closely monitored with regular scans. There were some concerning findings in her bones, but a biopsy in 2025 did not show proven active cancer. For a time, we were able to breathe a little easier, hopeful that the disease was finally under control.

A thank-you to previous supporters:

To those of you who supported Jennene—our “Bean” (as many have known her since childhood)—in her first cancer diagnosis, there truly aren’t words big enough to express our gratitude. Your kindness helped carry her this far, and we will never forget that. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

With that said, we never imagined we would be here again, but we need to ask for your support once more. This time, it’s even more urgent.

Her recent cancer diagnosis:

In late 2025, Jennene noticed a small mass in her remaining breast. Doctors initially believed it was benign, as angiosarcoma occurring in both breasts is almost unheard of. However, out of caution, they proceeded with a second full mastectomy to remove all tissue, including the mass.

Devastatingly, pathology has recently confirmed what we had all feared most, angiosarcoma again. This time, the tumour is higher grade, meaning even more aggressive than before.

The recent surgery to remove her left breast didn’t have clear surgical margins, meaning cancer remains. Because of this, she now urgently requires additional surgery and specialized treatment as soon as possible.

After re-reviewing earlier scans, her medical team is now also concerned that the cancer may have spread to her pelvic bone and possibly other areas. Further biopsies may be needed to determine the full extent of the disease.

The complexity of her diagnosis:

Because primary angiosarcoma of the breast is so rare and isn’t considered a typical breast cancer, Jennene’s case has been incredibly complex. Fewer than one woman per year in British Columbia is diagnosed with this disease (less than one in 5.6 million people). Many of the doctors involved have never seen a case like this. It’s led to uncertainty, delays, and a lack of clear direction at critical moments.

Given how aggressive this tumour is and how quickly it can progress, it’s absolutely essential that Jennene is treated by specialists who have direct experience with angiosarcoma and access to the most advanced treatments and clinical trials.

Where the donation will go:

Her best chance now is to seek expert care outside our local BC healthcare system. We have begun connecting with leading angiosarcoma specialists in the United States and beyond who are reviewing her case, and there’s hope, but this care comes at a very high cost.

The funds we are raising will go directly toward getting Jennene in front of the right experts as quickly as possible, for consultations, additional testing, surgery, and life-saving treatment. With a cancer this rare and aggressive, time and expertise can make all the difference.

Jennene is determined to do everything in her power to be here to raise her daughter, to continue loving her people, and to keep showing up in the world the way only she can.

We cannot bear the thought that finances could stand in the way of that. So we are asking, with hope, with love, and with everything we have, for your help.

Any contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Even sharing this means more than you know.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, for holding Jennene in your thoughts, and for helping us fight for her. The world needs her. We need her. And we will do everything we can to keep her here.
