Hello my friends. I want to share with you my family's story. Mohammed Abu Kwaik came to the United States when he was 6 years old. At the age of 2, he suffered burns over 80% of his face & body in a car fire. He was losing his ability to walk, the use of his arm, and he was going to lose his eye. Because he couldn't receive the medical care he needed in Gaza, his parents had to make the difficult decision to let him come to the United States by himself for skin grafting surgeries at Shriner hospital here in Cincinnati. He couldn't speak English and he was all alone but he was so brave and courageous. The surgeries were difficult and painful and he suffered so much but even at such a young age he was always grateful, loving and full of life. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
He came back for a second round of surgeries when he was 15 years old. He lived with my family and attended high school at St X. I changed his bandages and took care of him, I was his mom while he was here. He became a part of our whole family. We all love him so very much. He returned to Gaza but we have always kept a relationship with him and his family with facetime calls and messages.
Mohammed is a light in this world. He has never let his disability hold him back from living his life to the fullest. He is married now and has 3 young children of his own. Before the war, he worked in media production and graphic design. His dream has always been to return to the United States.
Now his family and him are barely holding on. They have moved 4 times since the war started and they have lost everything they own. They are living in a plastic tent with no electricity, food or clean water, on the border of Egypt in the city of Rafah. The Israeli Army is starting to invade Rafah and they have no where else to go. They are cold, hungry, and scared and time is running out. We need to raise $25,000 so they can get traveling papers to enter Egypt. I will transfer the money to his account so he can pay for the papers. His wife's name is Alaa and he has 3 young children, Ameer, Ahmed & Medhat. They just want a chance to live.
He is such a good man… He is an artist…. He is a father…. He is a husband…. He is my son….
Please see him and his family. Pray for them.
I have the most amazing community and most of you know how hard it is for me to ask for help. Please help me so I can help him… the goal is $25,000. I know this is a lot, but I am hopeful….thank you my friends…
