Please Help Us Help Kevin

I’m Mary Ellen LaRose, and my husband Ray and I are raising money to help our son Kevin to get the treatment they need for the depression that they have been battling since childhood. Over the years, Kevin has tried almost everything there is to treat depression (medicine, psychotherapy, in and out patient programs), yet they continue to suffer.

There is a medication that has been shown to be effective in treating major depression that has not responded to other therapies. Studies have demonstrated that this medication, called ketamine, when administered intravenously, can help those with treatment-resistant depression get better.

This IV medication is not covered by insurance and is very expensive. There is a loading dose of 3x a week for two weeks, and then it goes to once every two weeks and then once a month depending on how the patient responds. The course is anywhere from 12-15 treatments at $495 per treatment. If we were to happen to raise more money than our $8000 goal, we would use the excess to help Kevin get stabilized in their life.
