Help Jasmine JIVE into a new life!

We met Jazzy just a few days ago unexpectedly. Jazzy had managed to escape her paddock and somehow keep herself safe near a busy highway and icy, hilly back roads for over a day. Becky (my mom) was asked to help find Jazzy and return her home safely. Rick, Jazzy’s owner shared with Becky that he recently had surgery and can't walk without his scooter or move well enough to fix the fence. Rick has been doing his best to find Jazzy a new home but his health has declined and this has been a tough Minnesota winter. Jazzy had a herd of 3 until about 5 years ago. Herself, her mother and a mule. She was the first and only baby born on the farm for Rick's Mom Mardell. Mardell loved Jazzy and what she stood for. Mardell unfortunately passed away March 18th of 2018. With her human and herd members long gone, Jazzy is the only horse left on the property. Rick did his best to ensure her physical needs where met however he could not give her what horses most long for, a herd and a family. Jazzy was wandering looking for friends, thusly endangering herself and the many motorists in the area.

In 48 hours we hatched a plan to give Jazzy a leg up in life. Some support to find her forever home, family and herd. As a horse trainer I know this means she needs to be safe to handle, ride and be in good physical health. The reality is, this allows her the best shot to end up in a good home. I feel confident with my support group, knowledge and access to training resources we can help. I know what it takes to get horses similar to Jazzy back up to par. So as of Saturday March 19th Jazzy has a new temporary home with us. We are overjoyed to be able to help her❣ It is my hope to move her soon to be with my horses here at home so she has a herd! For now she is safe at my parents place behind good fences. I'd love to say I can afford to feed another horse and pay the expenses related to rehabilitating one who hasn’t had much along the lines of regular care but I don't. I need your help.
If you know me, you know I am honest to a fault and incredibly loyal. I keep my word, work hard and do my best. I'm looking for help to cover Jasmine’s basic care and feeding expenses. I will put in the training, care and time. What I know about Jazzy so far:
She is roughly 10 years old. She has been alone for the last five years. She appreciates a soft approach and learns quickly. She has never been in a trailer. She has had no routine foot care. (her feet are in pretty good shape from living in rougher terrain) She has had no dental care. She is cautious of ropes. She loves her ears rubbed. She has not been handled much in five years. She is completely adorable and she needs our help. My goal is to support her via training, getting dental, farrier and chiropractic/veterinary as well as basic nutritional supplements to support her during this time. I'm estimating this process may take up to a year. Again I'm very willing to put in the work but need help with the care expenses. My end goal for Jasmine is that she is prepared mentally and physically for a new great home‍! Among my goals for her training are:
Excellent ground manners, Standing tied, Bathes, Stands for the farrier, Lunges and *if all goes well I'd love to get her started under saddle. Since we don't know much about her physically or mentally yet - it is setting the bar high. I am estimating I will need approximately $5675 to support Jasmine through this process for the next 12 months.
Breakdown of estimated costs:
$500 basic farrier care $600 for Chiropractic $300 Basic Veterinary $150 Basic Dental Care $500 Nutritional supplements $100 for grain or hay pellets to get supplements fed $250 Emergency/unforseen expense fund $3000 for Hay and $715 GFM and CC Fee Expenses.
I'm hoping to do my best to document some of her progress on social media for you all to follow along and cheer her on. If you are not able to donate, please share Jazzy’s story. She has already stolen our hearts and she is worth it. I've been asked what I plan to do about rehoming Jazzy and my goal is to find her a great forever home with a family and a herd. Its difficult to say what the future holds however, if I can I intend to pay it forward somehow. I do not intend to profit from this. I'm not sure what paying it forward looks like right now but we have some ideas and I'll keep you all posted.
With Love,
Jazzy and Maranda
