Our sweet kitty Ricki has been suffering from ongoing health issues for about two months now. She has had numerous doctor visits, including labs, fecal/urine tests, bacterial and viral infection tests, x-rays, CT scan, and just recently a three day hospital stay for an emergency blood transfusion, dehydration and high fever. I have been managing her medical bills on my own the best I can. Although this recent hospital stay has been quite expensive and put me in a bit of a financial burden. All in all we have paid a little over $10,000 in medical bills (with more to come) Also since all of her doctor appointments are out of town I have to cover travel cost, and have missed work for some of her appointments. She has a follow up appointment with her internal medicine specialist in a few days when we will receive results from a fungal disease test. If she is positive for that, she will be treated for that, treatment for that last eight months to a year and can be a bit expensive. If she is negative for the fungal disease she will most likely need a biopsy to test for cancer and or bone marrow disease. Possibly a nasal cavity biopsy and a bone marrow biopsy. So there is still upcoming appointments and medical expenses.
We added Ricki to our family about a year and a half ago when she showed up at our house when she had got lost from her first family while they were traveling, they never wanted her back and of course we absolutely love her and she is our baby now. She is only a little over 2 years old. She is a very special cat and she has really proved to be such a brave little fighter over the last two months dealing with all this. We are holding on for hope that Ricki can be healed from all of this and still live a long happy & healthy life.
