Please help us give Casper a hand

Thank you for visiting our crowdfunding page. We have set this up to help us raise money to get Casper a Hero Arm that will benefit him in daily do the little things that most of us take for granted.

Casper is our second child. When he was born, he did not have a left hand. This had not presented itself as an issue during the pregnancy scans; therefore, we were unprepared, shocked, and dismayed.
We became depressed and questioned if we had done something to cause our son to have this disability. How could this have happened?

Personality
Casper has always had a positive outlook. He is a happy child who makes new friends easily. He mixes well with his peers and the adults he encounters.
He is helpful and well-liked in school and in the wider community. We are pleased that the children who befriend him, recognise his personality and not his disability.

Disability

For Casper the disability has not affected his motivation and drive. He works hard to be
self-sufficient and strives to be independent, learning new skills. While he understands that he has a disability, he does not allow it to overshadow his daily life and develops coping strategies. While he is very strong mentally, in some instances, he recognises that he needs support and has the strength and courage to ask for help.

Family life

As a family, we have found strategies to cope with Casper's disability and encourage him to be independent. We see daily that he has greater strength and resilience than we feel we have, and he inspires us to continue to strive for the best for him.
We love him very much. We feel that he deserves the best opportunities to succeed. We will always make every effort to ensure he has the best opportunities available to him to ensure that he leads a full and active life.

We are crowdfunding for Casper's Hero Arm through The Open Bionics Foundation and every donation will help Casper. Thank you in advance for your contribution to our cause it means so much to us.
