“Jackie is one of the shelter’s most
unique animals; she can be so kind and
loving with those she knows and trusts,
like the shelter staff and some of our
volunteers, but over time she has developed territorial behaviors which makes it difficult for new people to interact with
her. Jackie came to us shortly after the
beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. We had several successful adoptions which
led to the shelter being empty – so we
decided to pull a number of cats and dogs from the Associated Humane Society in Newark, Jackie was one of them. We
successfully adopted out all the animals
that we brought in except for Jackie. She
is an incredible animal, but we feel that
she needs more care and training than
we are able to provide her with at this
time.” - Becky Snyder, Manager of the
Edison Animal Shelter”

My name is Lisa Vorreas and I have been a volunteer at the Edison Municipal
Animal Shelter for the past 3 years. I met Jackie back in May of 2020, and I will
have to admit that she was not my
biggest fan at first. After spending
roughly a week trying to earn her trust I was able to officially meet Jackie. She is
by far my favorite dog and is such a doll when given a chance!!! I know that she
could be a great dog for the right adopter
though I also know deep down in my
heart that if she doesn’t get professional training she may spend the rest of her
life in a cage.

I have created this GoFundMe in hope of raising money to send Jackie to Working Dogs K9 Academy in Frenchtown, NJ.

“Working Dogs K9 Academy is a professional boarding and training facility that
has a passion for rescuing and
rehabilitating dogs. Over the last five
years.

Working Dogs K9 Academy has saved
over five-hundred dogs and will continue to unite prospective owners with
rehabilitated dogs through the process
of adoption.”

Not only does Working Dogs K9
Academy offer rescue, training, and
rehabilitation but they also have a
sanctuary program. If Jackie is unable to be trained and adopted, she will be able
to live in sanctuary. Although she will not have a family to call her own, she will be
free from living in a
cage for the rest of her life and more
importantly she won’t be at risk of being euthanized for being deemed
“unadoptable”. Which is the sad truth
about many unadoptable  dogs that end up in animal shelters around the world,
especially “bully” type breeds like Jackie.

The Edison Animal Shelter is a “no kill
shelter” but is unable to house Jackie
long term due to her unique care and
training needs, by sending Jackie to sanctuary directly from the Edison Animal Shelter we can ensure Jackie leads a long
healthy happy life!❤️

Any amount you can give will help Jackie find happiness and life outside of a cage.
