The Delta Upsilon house, from the outside all the way to the inner workings of its brotherhood is nothing short of a beauty; however, in her pure grace lies a few issues, one of those taking priority - a renovated backyard. The current state of the backyard is entirely destroyed. From the yard's slope, the holes in the ground, and the physical damage of the yard it is utterly unsafe for the brotherhood. Within the past month alone three people have been significantly injured due to the yard's state with one requiring very serious surgery. Because of this, as an executive board, we have put together this GoFundMe in hopes that we can make this improvement for the entirety of the brotherhood.
Delta Upsilon has always prioritized tight bonds between one another. It is arguably one of the things that our alumni, and those who have had a similar Greek experience, remember and value the most from their time as undergraduate students. We host many brotherhood events in order to keep the brotherhood as close as possible. These events consist of 3v3 football tournaments, Spikeball, volleyball tournaments, and more outdoor activities. As a brotherhood, the yard is instrumental in these brotherhood events and due to the current state of the yard, we have run into a few issues with hosting these events. We also have many charity events with sororities and different clubs on campus, many of these events benefiting Penn States world-famous event, THON. For example, our Dogs and Deltas event with Kappa Delta and Project Paws is a charity event that benefits the local shelter and THON. Project Paws consistently has questioned the safety and state of our yard, scared that it may cause injury to their dogs. While we have gone ahead with this event they have brought up very valid concerns that our yard is flat-out unsafe. With the backyard playing such a large role as a part of the house, we believe improving upon it is a necessary action. We have breached the subject with our alumni and although we have about $75,000 in summer house improvements they have respectfully decided to allocate most of the money elsewhere. We appreciate your consideration and if you have any additional questions or concerns do not hesitate to reach out. Thanks!
**Any money raised will go directly towards house improvements with the full intention of renovating the backyard, if not enough money is raised to renovate the backyard the funds will be put towards a separate house improvement project*
