Please help us cover urgent medical treatment

Hi,

My name is Kim Feast.

I am currently in the city of Hat Yai, Thailand, having travelled on short notice from Western Australia, to help my partner Lisa care for her critically ill mother, Halyna,in Songklanagarind Hospital.

I am starting this go fund me on behalf of Halyna and Lisa.

For backstory, while in Thailand doing some training, I met a beautiful lady, named Lisa. She is a teacher from Ukraine who has found a teaching job in a small city called Hat Yai near the border with Malaysia where she is living with her Mother Halyna (pronounced Galyna), having escaped her war ravaged country.

Lisa’s mum, Halyna, was diagnosed with cancer and given an estimate of 6 months to live 9 years ago. She entered remission 5 years ago.

The cancer returned 1 year ago. She traveled from Ukraine in the middle of the war, to be with her daughter and seek treatment here in Thailand - the options to be treated in Ukraine are severely compromised by Russia's invasion right now.

To give you an idea of how strong this woman is, it took four days to get out of Ukraine to Thailand. A dangerous journey she undertook on her own while already very sick, barely able to walk.

While I’m blown away by her strength and courage, in this last week her condition has deteriorated rapidly due to an infection in her lungs. Tests have revealed cancer has spread throughout her body via the lymphatic system, especially in the lungs, causing a condition called Dypsnea (inability to breathe).

This resulted in the need to intubate Halyna and a procedure to drain over a litre of fluid from her lungs was performed. The recovery from the procedure is estimated to be around 3-4 days. Doctors would like to begin a treatment of chemotherapy immediately to address these tumours - otherwise there is little to no hope.

We are at a very critical point as hospital bills are adding up quickly - to receive treatment as a foreigner is double the price.

Lisa cannot cover these bills on her Thai government teachers salary. Her wage barely covers accomodation and food for them both.

Today, October 27, 2023, our current outstanding medical costs sit at $6000 Aud

The hospital cost each day is around $1000 Aud.

We are unable to properly estimate the required time in the hospital. There is a possibility that it will require 1-2 weeks. Halyna's progess in the next few days will determine this.

After todays discussion, doctors will look to begin a course of chemo therapy treatment on monday 30/10 that will cost $1000 per round. they need to immediately address the tumours in the lungs.

We are in a public ward. While the staff are kind, it’s not conducive to healing. Our desire is to recover Halyna's condition to be able to continue care at home, after some modification to living spaces.

We estimate this can be done for around $1000 with home care being around $100 aud per day via a service in the screenshot below

Halyna is a warrior, we can see her desire to fight this disease, We need all the help we can get, big or small.
