It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rochelle Michaud, at the age of 68, on Christmas day of this year. Rochelle passed away peacefully in her sleep, which has given us some ease within our hearts. Our mother lost her battle with COPD and heaven gained an angel. She was a very strong and determined individual that was told she wouldn't make it after only 3 years of her diagnosis. I'm extremely happy to say that we were lucky enough to have her for 9 more years longer then we should of had. Rochelle was brought up in Chapleau, Ontario and was known to her friends as Roach. She loved playing pool and anything that was outdoors. She moved to Sault Ste Marie and that's where she raised the four of her children. Jason Michaud, Jamii-Lynne La Crosse, Krystal-Ann La Crosse and Jesse-James England will forever remember our mother as the fun-loving yet stern woman that was always in our corner with unconditional love and support. If you were a friend to any of her children, she would consider you to be a part of the family and you were to call her Ma. We all have fond memories of camping, hunting, fishing, doing crafts including all of the good and difficult times that she always helped us through. She had a sarcastic and humorous personality that's was beyond infectious and will forever be something that we will miss on a daily basis. Rochelle was a very proud grandmother to Kiki (Keyaira Mills-La Crosse). Our mom had a special spot in her heart for all four of Krystal's fur babies and spent hours each day brushing and playing with them. Another thing our mother loved was feeding the birds, squirrels, shrews and chipmunks. She had them eating right out of her hand, literally. As mom had COPD, which is a slow gradual progressive disease, we had time to discuss with her about what her dying wishes and what they would be. Our mother always said that she wanted to be laid to rest with her parents in Chapleau Ontario. Our mom requested to be cremated and she wants a celebration of life in lieu of a funeral.
"I don't want anyone to cry when I'm gone. I just want everyone to gather and reminisce the good times."
Our family asking for donations to help with fulfilling my mother's dying wishes. We need assistance with the cremation, getting an urn, as well as, 4 mini urns so that each child can keep a small piece of her with them at their homes, gas money to bring her from London to Sault Ste Mare (for her celebration of life), renting of the venue, the cost of food for the event, as well as, the cost of getting all of our siblings from their current cities to Chapleau (after the celebration of life), to lay her to rest with her parents and our hotel stays throughout the two locations. We're very heartbroken and overwhelmed with everything that is going on and any type of help to relieve this stress during this most difficult time would be greatly appreciated.
Fly high "my girl" and watch over us! Until we meet again our mother, grandmother, friend and are new guardian angel.
