Our son, Travis, suffered a devastating injury in September 2018. Due to physical constraint, his heart stopped beating and he lost oxygen to his brain for over 6 minutes. After coming out of an induced coma needing total life support, it was determined that he had suffered major brain damage.  He is blind, he can not speak well, and has very limited use of his hands. He has learned how to walk again, but with much instability. Right now he is staying in a nursing home in Van Nuys, Ca, and we want to bring him home so that be can be close by and receive much needed therapy, which he has not received since his accident. In order to bring him home, we are remodeling our garage into a studio/apartment, with a bathroom, a small kitchen, and bedroom/living area. The total cost of the project is estimated to be $17,000. We have managed to pay close to $7000 so far, but our funds are depleted and my husband and I are both on fixed incomes. Although our goal is to raise $10,000, we will be grateful for every penny that is contributed. We will be happy to provide any documents regarding costs and expenditures.
