Help Us Bring My Father Home
My name is Angelo, an immigrant here in Edmonton, Canada. I grew up separated from my parents because they worked abroad to support me and my sister Back home. Even though it was hard growing up without them, I always understood their sacrifice. I promised myself that one day I would study hard, work hard, and give back to them for everything they had done for us.
I was given the opportunity to come to Canada as a temporary foreign worker. Life here was not easy. I faced many challenges, but I kept pushing forward because I carried one dream in my heart — to bring my family here and finally be together.
By God’s grace and through perseverance, I became a permanent resident and later a Canadian citizen. My dream came true when I was able to bring my parents to Canada to visit. Even though they were only here on a tourist visa, I was so grateful they were able to experience life here with me and my sister.
But our joy turned into heartbreak.
One day, my father slipped in the snow. At first, he said he was okay. A few days later, he began feeling unwell. We went to see a doctor and waited for test results, but his condition suddenly worsened. We rushed him to the hospital where he was admitted and placed in the Intensive Care Unit. We prayed and hoped with all our hearts that he would recover.
Today, we received the devastating news that my father did not survive.
My father was a fun-loving person and a very generous man. He always found ways to make people laugh and never hesitated to help anyone in need. He had a big heart and brought warmth wherever he went.
Our family is broken by this loss. On top of our grief, we are now facing overwhelming hospital bills. Because my father was here on a tourist visa, he only had limited insurance coverage, which does not come close to covering the medical expenses. In addition, we are facing funeral costs and repatriation expenses to bring him home.
It is very difficult for us to ask for help, but we truly need support during this painful time. Any amount you can give, no matter how small, will help ease the financial burden on our family. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page would mean so much to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers. May God bless you for your compassion
