My name is Ever Torres, and I am writing on behalf of my brother, Josue Adonis Torres Lainez. Josue is an extraordinary young man—hard-working, responsible, compassionate, and deeply committed to his family and community. He graduated from DC Prep Edgewood Middle Campus in 2013, attended McKinley Technology High School, and completed his studies at Columbia Heights Educational Campus (Bell) in 2017. Our family has always been close, and Josue has been a constant source of support and love for all of us.
On November 1, 2025, Josue was detained by ICE while returning home from work. He has been engaged in the DACA process since 2020, but like many others, his case has been in administrative limbo since the program pause in May 2021. Josue is currently being held at a detention facility in Virginia. He has documented anxiety and depression, and as of last week, had gone twenty-one days without access to his prescribed medication. This lapse in care is both dangerous and deeply concerning for his health and well-being.
Our family is doing everything we can to bring Josue home. Our lawyers believe there is hope for his release, but we need help covering the legal fees and other expenses that have quickly added up. Josue helped with rent and other household resources, so his absence has created a financial strain. We are also preparing for the costs of therapy and support Josue will need after this traumatic experience. Any extra funds will go toward communication, additional legal fees, and resources to help Josue recover and rebuild.
We would deeply appreciate any support you can offer to help bring Josue home. Every donation, share, and message of encouragement means the world to our family. Thank you for standing with us during this difficult time.
