Please help Tucker beat FIP❣️
Tucker is the absolute sweetest boy you will ever meet! Just an absolute love bug❣️ My family adopted him from the local Humane Society over the summer after losing our 20 year old cat. We have completely fallen in love with him. Most of the time you will find him cuddled up right in our laps. Just the sweetest baby!
He is just six months old but very much a kitten running around the house and playing with his kitty sister Mimi. He loves dragging his toys out of the toy box and swatting balls and toy mice around the house. He loves treats! He loves his people!
This past weekend, Tucker stopped being the energetic, playful kitty he’s always been. Out of nowhere, he became lethargic and was having rapid, labored breathing. We decided to take him to the vet on Tuesday where they gave him a shot of antibiotics thinking it was just a respiratory issue. Two days later and there was no improvement. Another trip to the vet on Friday for x-rays and he was given the diagnosis of FIP. Tucker’s chest was full of fluid and he was having trouble breathing.
If you are like me, you have probably never heard of FIP or, if you have, you really aren’t sure exactly what it is. Basically it’s a fatal diagnosis. Feline Infectious Peritonitis, FIP, is caused by a mutation of the typically benign Coronavirus (FCoV). It typically strikes kittens and young cats under 2 years of age, or older cats whose immune system has been stressed or otherwise compromised.
His vet isn’t really giving me much hope in saving Tucker. He was given prednisone and we were told to give it to him until it no longer provided him with relief. After that we should humanely euthanize him. Devastating news! Devastating news for such a young, sweet baby. No chance for surviving this. Or is there??
I reached out to a friend who connected me with people who had in fact helped their cats survive this!! There is hope! I have hope but it comes with a hefty price of about $4500. There are treatments out there that CAN help Tucker beat this horrible FIP! I have already spent about $800 over two vet visits and sadly just don’t have the $4500 needed for the 12 week treatment. He deserves a chance to beat this and that makes it even harder not having the means to get treatment.
If you feel it in your heart to donate to help save Tucker, I would be FOREVER grateful! If you are unable to help monetarily, please take a second to share Tucker’s story and Go Fund Me campaign. It would mean so much!
I hope to order his first week of treatment ASAP so he has a fighting chance. Sadly, time is not on his side. I will post updates as I have them.
Thank you so much!
