Hi, we’re Dani & Chris, based in Devon in the UK.

We have created this fundraiser to help our close family friend Tsering search for his brother Dawa and other missing family members, friends and members of the community following the devastating flash floods and landslides in Nepal.

Tsering and Dawa are close, lifelong family friends of ours, and Nepal, their family and the communities there are incredibly close to our hearts.

The devastation is difficult to comprehend. Villages and homes have been destroyed, families have lost everything and many people are still missing. Tragically, Tsering’s brother Dawa and other family members are among those currently missing and unaccounted for.

Tsering is a Tibetan/Nepali trekking guide who has worked in the region for more than 20 years with Dolma Treks. He knows the area, terrain and its communities incredibly well.

Since the disaster, Tsering has already travelled into the affected area twice by helicopter and is now mobilising people, aid and resources on the ground. He is personally doing everything he can to search for his brother and family members, while also helping to find and support others affected by the disaster.

How the money will be used

Every penny raised through this GoFundMe will be sent directly to Tsering to fund his search and relief efforts on the ground.

The funds will be used specifically towards the costs associated with:

* Transport into and around the affected areas, including helicopter or other transport where necessary and available

* Supporting people assisting Tsering with search efforts on the ground

* Essential supplies, equipment and provisions required during the search

* Getting aid and supplies to affected families and communities that Tsering is able to reach

* Continuing the search for Dawa, other missing family members and friends, and other missing people Tsering is able to help locate

We (Dani and Chris), will not retain or personally benefit from any of the money raised. We are simply organising the fundraiser on Tsering’s behalf so that he has access to as many resources as possible while he is on the ground.

We will transfer the funds raised to Tsering so that he can use them directly for these search and relief efforts. We will continue to share updates from Tsering as the search progresses and, wherever possible, provide updates about how the donations are being used.

If there are funds remaining once the immediate search and recovery efforts have ended, all remaining money will be used to directly support affected local families and communities with their recovery and rebuilding.

Why we’re doing this

For us, this isn’t simply a disaster we have seen on the news. Tsering and Dawa are close family friends. We want to give Tsering every possible resource to continue searching for his brother, his family and others who are still missing.

To start the fundraiser, Dani is donating all of her earnings from her small business this week to Tsering’s efforts. We are asking our friends, family, customers and wider community to help us build on that.

Any amount, however small, can help keep Tsering and his team on the ground searching and supporting those who desperately need them.
