Hi my name is Tania, I am from San Diego, California and I created this page to accept donations towards my dogs lifesaving chemotherapy fund. On August 26th 2021, my 10.5 year old lab mix Jack was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer. Jack is being treated at San Diego’s Veterinary Specialty Hospital of Sorrento Valley with the gold standard of care contingent if we can keep up with the payments of his chemotherapy treatment. On September 2nd he was confirmed to have b-cell lymphoma which medical experts say responds much greater to chemotherapy versus the t-cell. His prognosis for a year lifespan is calling for the 6 month “CHOP” protocol which has the highest success but will cost $11,000 total. The treatment needs to stay consistent and because of his size and weight at 95lbs he requires higher doses of the treatment. He is responding well to the treatment already going into get his appetite back and sleeping again. The CHOP lymphoma protocol is a 25 week course of 4 different drugs that alternate every week some drugs much stronger than the next. Pet Insurance will not cover the chemotherapy, so it’s up to me and my family to fundraise the money to get Jack the treatment he deserves. It’s hard enough I had to learn he only has a year but now I need to scramble to get that money so he can go onto live this last year. What I believed was only going to be a routine collapsed lung surgery, turned out to be cancer. 

 

Jack is a loving lab mix from San Diego California. He is a rescue from the Escondido Humane Society adopted at only 3 months old. He has been in very good health the majority of his life. In 2014 at age 2 he was diagnosed with Cranial Crucial Ligament disease leaving him unable to walk and was treated for bi-lateral TPLO knees surgeries that my family helped me pay for as pet insurance did not cover that as well. A bionic dog with metal plates in his knees he went on to live a very healthy life swimming at the beach and playing at the park up until he recently was diagnosed with Lymphoma August 26, 2021.

 

Jack is strong, loving, sweet and has a huge gusto for life. At 10.5 years old he’s a fighter, already responding wonderfully to Presidone, a steroid that induces remission. We have no doubt he will respond just as well to the chemotherapy if we are able to acquire the funds to get him the treatment on a consistent bases for the next 25 weeks. The 6 month protocol will give him another year and very well more.

I will of course be giving regular updates here on GoFundMe regarding his progress in hopes of inspiring people to donate.  Due to Covid the hospital Jack is being treated at (VSH of Sorrento Valley) will not allow patient parents inside but I will be sure to document the journey every week for the next 25 weeks of chemotherapy from outside the facility my best. 

 

Donations will also benefit dog care for Jack (evening sitters) as he recovers from chemotherapy for when I’m at work as a Home Health Caregiver for clients with Alzheimer’s.
