LOCKPORT, N.Y. — The driver in the crash that sent a 15-year-old student to the hospital is now facing charges.
RELATED: Student struck by car while waiting for school bus
The 17-year-old male has been charged with one count of Assault in the 2nd Degree, one count of Vehicular Assault in the 2nd Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, and several Vehicle and Traffic Law Violations.

The incident happened September 4, 2025 just before 7am. on Beattie Avenue in the Town of Lockport.
Investigators say a 2004 Ford Explorer, allegedly driven by the 17-year-old, was traveling south on Beattie Avenue when they left the roadway, travelled through a front yard before striking a parked vehicle in a driveway. The parked vehicle then hit the 15-year-old who was waiting for the school bus. He was taken to ECMC with severe leg injuries. The 17-year-old was also taken to ECMC.

Investigators say 17-year-old was allegedly showing signs of drug impairment and took several toxicological samples from him for further analysis.
While examining the truck, troopers say they found two unfinished ghost gun lower frames of a Glock pistol and AR-15 style rifle.
On Oct. 7, the 17-year-old was processed and arraigned at the Niagara County Court - Youth Part and then remanded to the Oneida County Jail on $100,000 cash bail.”

————————————————————-

On Thursday, September 4th 2025, my son, Travis was severely injured while waiting for the school bus on his second day of school. His bus was due to arrive at 6:56am, but at 6:52am a 17 year old driver crossed both lanes of traffic from the opposite side of the street, drove through the neighbors lawn, through his dad’s lawn, onto the driveway and hit his dads parked GMC Sierra pickup truck, pushing the truck into Travis and pinned Travis between the truck and tree causing severe injuries to him. Travis has been in the hospital since then with extreme, life altering, life changing injuries.

By the grace of God, Travis will survive but he has a long road to recovery ahead of him both physically and mentally. So far Travis has had two surgeries for an amputation of part of his right leg.

This GoFundMe will be used for Travis for any medical expenses, needs and accommodations he may need for his daily living. Also for anything unforeseen in his future that he may need now that he is an amputee.

I thank you for reading this and thinking of Travis at this time.
