UWS: It's our turn to help Tony Cooper
Donation protected
Tony and Linda Carter Cooper are beloved figures in their Upper West Side neighborhood of Manhattan. They moved into their W 80s apartment in the 70s and raised their 4 kids. Now retired, Tony worked as a custodian for Brandeis High School for 40 years. During that time, Tony headed up and led a youth program that provided basketball coaching and mentorship to help keep kids off the streets.
While the pandemic has been rough on all of us, The Coopers have been significantly impacted. Tony is in dire need of treatment for his liver. Unfortunately, the treatment comes with a high co-pay, which is the problem this GoFundMe seeks to solve. Without the treatment, Tony faces liver failure. While Tony has been battling his condition, Linda recently had significant surgery of her own. She is doing her best to take care of Tony, though she herself needs to rest and recuperate (though she won't admit it).
They have given to their local community for decades through Tony's impactful work, their devotion to their church communities at St. Timothy's and Holy Trinity, their activism, and Linda's effortless community-building. Together they've touched so many lives — it's our turn to let them know we're grateful for all they've done.
