Hi, I'm Molly Parker and I have started this fundraiser to help my friend and fellow Altadenan Tony Garcia and his family rebuild their lives after the Eaton Fire took their home. As renters, the Garcias have been left in a particularly vulnerable position in the wake of this catastrophe. Unlike owners, they do not have insurance to cover their losses and the rental market in LA is ridiculously expensive, with now tens of thousands more people looking for housing. They have lost their home of 20 years, their daughter Cynthia's school, their community, all of Tony's work tools, the kid's school computers, and cherished gifts from their grandparents. Tony has lost most of his gardening work as his clients lost their homes, too. Just everything.
I met Tony when he was recommended to help design and build the landscape/garden for our Altadena home. We became friends over the weeks and months he worked at our house and I have so much love and respect for Tony. He is a hardworking and talented man, and he is tremendously kind. I just adore him.
I know that the need in Los Angeles at this time is great, and many of you have been inundated with requests for help. But if you are able, please join me in supporting Tony & Maria and their children Elizabeth, Roxanne, Cynthia, Eduardo and Tony Jr. to rebuild their lives. Any amount, however small is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your generosity. Donated funds will be used to cover needs which may not be covered by other sources.
