Please help to raise money for rehabilitation

It seemed like a normal Monday 27.11.2023. I will remember that date forever.
My sons went to school, and I went to work. After couple of hours I have received a phone call, that my son collapsed, and the ambulance is on the way.

Gabriel (8 years old) has suffered cardiac arrest. His heart stopped, and due to lack of oxygen his brain was damaged. He suffered Hypoxic-ischaemic stroke with damage in bilateral cortex and basal ganglia.
He was admitted to the nearest hospital to be intubated, and then transferred into the intensive care unit at cardiac hospital. It’s difficult to describe how difficult, and devastating all of this was. I didn’t even know if my dearest son will be alive…I did not know if he is going to breathe on his own. There were possibilities that he will not be able to see, or hear…First three weeks I recall as a nightmare…

After a few weeks, he was stabilising, and ICD was inserted (to prevent any other heart function abnormalities).

At this moment Gabriel needs help with everything: he does not use his hands intentionally, he doesn’t sit up, or stand up on his own, he has a feeding tube to help with nutrition, and all medications. He started to communicate saying ‘yes’, or ‘no’, and his speech develops slowly. He can see, he is aware, and understands everything what people are saying.

Gabriel has a great potential for rehabilitation, but waiting time is incredibly long. He participates in exercises, and he is motivated to get better. Please help me to give him the best possible chance for his recovery…

We applied everywhere possible to get help. The closest date we can go to rehabilitation centre is in three! months. Any private neuro rehabilitation costs thousands of pounds a week, as he needs to be inpatient. He stays in the cardiac hospital for now, as he cannot to be home which is not suitable for him.

I’m a single mum with two boys. My husband died 4.5 years ago. That was a huge loss, and a shock for my family already. But this, what we are going through now, is even more heartbreaking.

I can’t afford a private rehabilitation on my own. I believe there are good people around, who will be able to help. Every passing forward, sharing, every single donation will mean a world to us

Thank you xxx
