Hi, my name is Ali. On 12th February 2023 I ruptured my anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) while playing football. Any sportsperson knows this is the worst injury, and my recovery has been slow. According to a specialist, the fact I am still unable to straighten the leg after 4 months is deeply concerning as it could cause permanent dysfunction and locking of the knee. Professor Adrian Wilson has suggested this is likely due to scar tissue which must be aggressively removed. This means I need two surgeries - an initial arthroscopy to remove scar tissue, before a second procedure 6 weeks later to reconstruct my ligament from a hamstring or quad graft. Unfortunately the cost of these procedures will total upwards of £10,000. Any contribution would be enormously appreciated. It pains me to ask for money in this way but I hope I can repay you all one day.
