Please help to bring Kevin D Dow home

Donation protected
On behalf of our brother, Kevin, my sister, Karyn D. Clark and I, are reaching out for help to bring our brother home! Kevin honorably served our country for twenty-three years (1982-1986 USMC & 1987-2006 USN) enlisting at 18 and retiring in 2006 with the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
After an all too brief of a stay in Vermont, visiting with family & friends, he returned to the Philippines. Kev was enjoying a well-earned retirement until about a year ago and then last month, he suffered an acute and severe allergic reaction to medication he was given. On 09/14/2023 Kev was admitted to the ICU of The Medical City Clark Hospital. At the time of admission, Kevin did not have health insurance coverage. Being one to rarely reach out for help, his finances were soon drained covering his hospital costs. Kev now has health insurance effective 09/18/2023 that only pays 75% of approved charges. In addition, he is responsible for all costs incurred between 09/14/2023-09/18/2023 while in the ICU, 25% of approved charges- PLUS any costs incurred that are not covered by insurance. This facility is a for profit (as we understand it, most hospitals if not all are in the Philippines) and once he is well enough, he will be "discharged" BUT will not be released from the facility until his bill is paid in full.
On 09/30/2023, he underwent an above-knee-amputation of his left leg and on 10/08/2023 debridement of his right foot. We are hopeful that treatment of the right foot will be successful, and no amputation will be required. Anticipating that he will continue to improve and will be well enough for discharge in the not-too-distant future, we must have funds available to pay his bill, the costs to return to the USA and receive further medical treatment & rehabilitation, at a VA Medical Center or other appropriate US facility.
Those who know Kev, know he's not perfect -although he may deny that statement. But he's got a big, big heart and would always do what he could to help any of his friends and loved ones. He has family all across the USA, East Coast to West Coast, North and South as well as I'm sure many good friends just about world-wide. We know these are difficult times but please consider giving a gift, in any amount you can, so that we can pay his hospital bill, travel and the expenses he'll incur afterwards while we help him to navigate the various federal systems to get him the benefits he deserves.
