I am asking for help for some special people in my life, my brother in law and sister in law, Thomas and Katrina Davis. They are fighting one of the hardest battles in life, Cancer. I know they won't ask for help themselves so I will gladly do it for them. As some of you may know, Thomas was diagnosed with Testicular cancer in April of 2023. He had surgery to remove the cancer, but he did have a couple of lymph nodes the doctors were watching as areas of concern. They did believe the lymph nodes were just reacting to the surgery he had and doing their job so, they wanted to just continue to watch them to see what happened. Thankfully, Thomas did continue to go to his follow ups because in June of this year his scans showed that lymph nodes were now involved in his pelvis, abdomen and chest. So now, it was time to fight the cancer again but with chemotherapy this time. He had to have surgery to get his port put in first before he could start treatments. He began this journey of chemo on June 23. He has to do 4 cycles of these treatments. He goes to the infusion center 5 days in a row for around 6 hours each day. This chemo is so harsh on his kidneys that he has to have a liter of IV fluids before and after his chemo each day. He gets the 2 liters of saline, a bag of pre meds and 2 bags of chemo each day for the 5 days. Then, he has 2 weeks of no chemo in each cycle. On his off week, he goes to doctor appointments and gets labs. The first off week he has labs twice and then on the 2nd week he goes just once unless he has complications. He has had plenty of complications. He had issues with his port and had to have it re stitched. He had a severely low white count due to insurance not covering the shot that helps stimulate the production of white blood cells. Chemo had to be put off for a week for his body to try to recooperate some. After his 2nd cycle, he was able to finally get the shot to help the white blood cell count, but little did he know, the pain that shot would cause was almost unbearable. He writhed in pain in his joints and bones from the shot with no relief no matter what he did. He started having severe fever and chills as well which ended up causing a ER visit. He is also having issues of fluid overload. He will gain 10-15 pounds of fluid after one day of treatment at times. They are giving diuretics to assist with getting the fluid off, but they have to be so careful because of the harshness to his kidneys. They are now concerned there could be heart damage so they will do a echo next week. He won't have another PET and CT scan until October. He has one more cycle of chemo as well. The side effects have been so abundant from bone/joint pain, nausea, rashes, mouth issues, severe fatigue, fever/chills, diarrhea, hair loss, loss of appetite and taste bud changes. Cancer has drained him mentally and physically so much and Katrina as well. He is still trying to work, but he is so fatigued and debilitated that most nights he can't go in to work. Katrina has been his rock and support through this all. She has missed a lot of work because she is by his side for all his treatments, appointments and labs. On top of all the cancer issues, he has an eye problem that is causing blindness in the center of his left eye. He has to have injections in it every 4 weeks. We all know it's an expensive time to live right now but to have all these medical bills piling up on top of it. It's just all become so overwhelming. That's not even including gas and food for the days they are traveling too. I know they would never ask for themselves but please if you can donate it would be so greatly appreciated, and if you can only pray for them, that is greatly needed and appreciated as well. They are a family of 7. Trey, Devin, Kaylee, Dustin and Kadance are their children. Kaylee became our angel in 2008, and we still miss her presence in our lives every day. Devin and his fiancé, Alivia, are getting married in October. We are praying that Thomas will have completed his chemo and started his healing process so he can enjoy this wedding. I know Katrina has been by some of your sides for some of the lowest points in your lives. In her line of work, she is an angel in the time of need when you lose your loved ones. She is always willing to lend a helping hand or be a listening ear and comforter you when you need it the most. She never asks for anything, but I know they need a little help right now. Please keep them lifted in prayer as much as you can. They need all the prayers and help they can get right now. I thank you all if you read this much. Our family has been through a lot but with God by our side, we know Thomas will beat cancers butt!! We know Thomas and Katrina have a testimony that is like no other, and God will always be with them and get them through this life. Thank you for the love and support through all of this!! God bess you all!
