Hi! My name is Jenny and i've never done a go fund me before so here it goes! I live in the Keene area of New Hampshire and yesterday while driving back from my lunch break I saw this beautiful owl get hit by a very large truck on Rt. 9. I pulled over hoping it might have a chance as it had literally just happened. A very nice elderly man helped me stopped traffic so I didn't end up in the same boat as my owl buddy. I couldn't tell his condition so I wrapped him in a towel. Luckily I work at an amazing local animal hospital so I got him in the truck with me and headed to work. I wasn't sure if he was even alive but was holding him securely as I had visions of him waking up and being like a tyrannosaurus in the vehicle once he realized. Half way there I could feel him start breathing so I knew he had a chance. Once he woke up we realized he had some head trauma and wasn't opening one of his eyes. He is currently with a local certified wildlife rehaber in Winchester, NH who is fully trained to help care for him. The goal is to hopefully be able to release him back so he can be with his owl family but will have a home if he ends up needed more care. This amazing woman does this all on her own and is not paid. She has helped countless other animals in the area over many years, all while working another job. The amount of time, energy and money that will go into just caring for this one little guy are surprising, not to mention the fact that taking care of this guy is a full time job in itself. I can't imagine the price of "owl chow" is cheap either. Anyone who knows me knows I have a special love for owls and if you do too then you understand how special these creatures are. I know we are all broke right now and i'm not asking for large donations. Even $1 can help buy him a meal to get him back on his feet. 100% of everything will get donated directly to this rehab for his care and anything above and beyond will help another animal at the same facility. Thank you so much for reading this and for any help. As of this morning he has opened his bad eye and eaten a meal on his own so fingers crossed he is on the road to recovery!
