Hi. My name is Tyler, you may know me as Stew or Stewbot. I talk to my cat Emma way too much, I make questionable life decisions, and I have apparently decided to move from Indianapolis to New York with the energy of someone who has never once looked at a New York rent listing.
After 13 years of building my career in Indianapolis I got laid off and spent six months unemployed. I applied to everything. I got rejected by companies I had never even heard of. I started asking Emma for career advice. She was not impressed.
Then somehow I landed a real job offer in New York. Healthcare industry. Great company. Actual salary. I cried. Emma did not care.
I start May 18th. It is currently April. I have a cat, a gaming PC the size of a small refrigerator, and absolutely no idea what I am doing but I am doing it anyway.
Here is where your money goes.
- Moving truck because "just shipping it" is not free, I checked.
- First month's rent and a security deposit in a city where my Indianapolis budget gets laughed out of the room.
- Getting a car registered in New York which is apparently a whole entire thing.
- Gas and emotional support snacks for the drive.
- One New York pizza on arrival.
- And premium cat food so Emma forgives me for uprooting her life again.
I just want a thousand dollars from the internet so I do not completely fall apart in month one of a new city.
