The last few mos my parents were luckily spared by covid but you cannot prevent something like Alzheimer’s from sneaking up and stealing a love ones mind, memories, and the ability to do basic motor skills.
Just 2 weeks ago my dad was officially diagnosed with it and a week later he tried to sneak out of the house I rented to live and care for them. He fell so hard as he tripped on the front steps he now has a brain injury. After almost a week he had an obstruction in his throat, which prevented him to from breathing and went into cardiac arrest. He was dead for 5 mns.
He now is in the ICU again at Summit but relies on a ventilator and blood pressure med drip to live. I am going to serve out his wishes and say goodbye to him tomorrow. My Mom and I cried for hours in his room but could not make the decision tonight.
He was the best father a boy could ask for. He is charming, hilarious, caring, and honest. The most patient and loyal human I will ever know.
Unfortunately, he did not have the means to plan for his final days. I ask, again, that you assist monetarily this one last time so that I can help send him off with Grace.
