Please help the Smith Family, along with extended community, relocate their elder and Matriarch, Ms. O to New York City, so she can immediately gain access to a clean, safe, secure care facility to begin to receive the best long-term care that she so desperately needs and deserves.
My name is Val, and I am organizing on behalf of the Smith family, who have been urgently trying to transport and relocate Ms. O for the better part of this year, so that she can be looked after while receiving around-the-clock care.
We have been completely overwhelmed and at a loss for words by the ongoing negligence and abuses that have been allowed to continually take place at the current facility where Ms. O resides, in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she has suffered multiple falls, one resulting in a head injury, as well as an attack by another resident, where she was verbally mocked with racial slurs, robbed of her clothing and belongings, and physically assaulted with her own walker. We have been devastated by the lack of resources available to get her safely out of these conditions, and understand that crowdfunding is our only option. As it stands, Ms. O does not have even a week's worth change of clothing, no undergarments, and no personal mementos, as they have all been stolen by staff and/or residents. Because of Ms. O’s fragile and increasingly vulnerable mental health and overall medical state—with multiple diagnoses and advanced age—two care facilitators will need to travel to her, where they will then be able to facilitate her flight plus transport to a facility in New York, where family and community will be able to watch over her long-term care. We are urgently calling on friends, family, faith congregations, and blessings from kind-hearted strangers in this desperate time. Any amount of help will be so greatly appreciated.
All funds will be used towards Ms. O’s one-way flight from Little Rock to NYC, the round-trip flights of two facilitators who will be accompanying her, along with warm clothing and personal items she will need for NY, as she currently has no coat, warm shoes, or any other necessary items for a northeastern climate, and essentially will be starting a new life, from scratch.
Thank you for your time, and Many, MANY Blessings to You All,
The Smith Family
