Please help the Robin Square Family!
Dear Friends of Robin Square,
In 2014 the Robin Family started a little panini shop servicing the Old Port in Montreal, QC. They quickly moved to brunch and dinner service in their 32 seat restaurant on Rue St. Laurent. They saw record numbers of customers waiting out for up to two hours for a chance to share in the magic that is Robin Square and knew it was time to make a move.
Bravely, the Robin family moved a few blocks away to an 84 seat venue where each member of the family worked tirelessly to add their special touch that would welcome guests from around the world. From the beginning, Robin Square has been a family effort with each member of the Robin family pouring energy and love into every bite.
In early 2020, COVID-19 rocked the Robins like many other small family businesses in Canada. Like many Montreal businesses, Robin Square relies on tourist traffic to make up a significant portion of their business. And like so many family led businesses during pandemic - they are now fighting to survive.
Now facing bankruptcy, the patriarch of the Robin family faces losing his home and all he has worked for in the last 50 years. Having just retired to help run the family business in the Old Port. Without your help bankruptcy will be a reality.
Friends of Robin Square are seeking to help the Robin family navigate these difficult times. A defunct landlord and rising expenses means that the Robin family will lose everything in a short amount of time if we don't help.
They are working to reimagine what family business looks like and they now know that business in the Old Port is no longer an option. Without financial assistance the Robin Family is at the risk of losing absolutely everything including the almost paid for kitchen equipment and furniture in their existing location.
If you've felt the love of the Robin family like I have, you understand the deep sadness for this loving family and all of the customers who've had the privilege to be served by them in the last 6 years.
I believe in goodness and I know the Robin family deserves to make it through this pandemic. They deserve a chance to rise above what COVID-19 has done to society and to the hospitality industry.
Please give what you can - every little bit helps. We need to work together to make sure this very special and talented family do not lose their life's work - that would be too large a casualty of this pandemic.
