Carissa Riordan grew up with my children and we are long time family friends. In early February, Carissa was eight months pregnant and had an extremely high fever. A health care provider assumed it was the flu. For almost 2 weeks the fever continued and she went into early labor. Jaxon was born healthy although Carissa's condition continued to decline and doctors verbalized she could pass away.
It ends up Carissa did not have the flu. She had a strep infection that went into her entire blood stream (sepsis). Carissa and Jaxon were in the hospital for almost as week. Carissa was sent home on IV antibiotics for 6 weeks. The infection has improved although is still in her hip bone. Carissa has daily pain limiting her activity and continues to take oral antibiotics, 12 pills per day! She hopes to start physical therapy soon and is seeking assistance for depression. They are not sure how soon she will recover. Her doctors are saying months or even years.
Despite assistance from family and friends the Riordan family has used up ALL their finanicial savings. This is especially scary because they recently purchased & moved into their first house. Jake, Carissa's husband did not and will not receive any pay for time off work when Carissa needs him and their medical bills will continue for quite some time.
The stress of Carissa's daily pain and limitations, growing bills, having a new baby and a young daughter, new home, and Jake not having paid time off work is a heavy weight & not good for health and healing.
Please assist the Riordan family with the current outstanding medical bill of $7,000. In God we are all family.
