My name is Keyonna, and I am the second-eldest in a household of five, and we are in desperate need of help. My mother always told us that everything happens for a reason, and that things will always turn out right. More than ever, she told us to never be too proud, or too afraid, to ask for help when we can't help ourselves.
Now is the time when we need help the most. We've been in very tough situations all our lives, from dealing with several deaths in our family (Grandmother and Grandfather to illnesses, Uncle to medical complications, Cousin to gang violence and a Father to cancer) to having to push through several hardships (moving states due to homelessness, never being able to keep a working vehicle, jobs becoming disastrous or just plain not working out). But every time, we've bounced back and kept on trucking.
However, even with our determination, the economy has not been kind to any of us. My mother and I are the only income earners in the household, and coupled with rising costs in rent, food, insurance, and car payments, it's become too much for us to bear. The one car we have has been the biggest drain on our finances, as we are several months behind, even with a payment plan, as its payments are now more than the rent in the meager trailer home we live in. Even worse, our landlord is threatening eviction out of that meager trailer due to being behind several months' on rent as well, despite us having has a good rapport with them for several years. Alongside normal utilities such as electricity and water bearing on us with their monthly regularity, and we feel like we're absolutely drowning at this point.
My mother is the backbone of our family, sacrificing so much to make sure we're okay and safe. Please help us to finally get a break in our constant struggles. A windfall to finally get up on our feet and live instead of wondering how to make a 1-pound bag of rice last for a week. To have a comfortable place to live and to finally be able to go a day without worrying about anything.
All funds donated to our cause will go directly to finding a new place to live and bringing our current debts to a manageable state:
- Covering the deposit and first two month's rent = $3,000
(a 3-bedroom house or apartment in an area near our jobs is around $1,100/month, and applications fees range from $50-100 with deposits varying wildly, from $600 to a whole month's rent)
- Paying up the owed amounts on our current Home Rent = $900
- Paying up the owed amounts on our Car payment = $1,300
- Paying up the owed amounts on our Utilities (water, electric, internet) = $500
- Clearing our Credit Card debt to start building a better credit score (which leads to better housing/car offers to try and reduce payments) = $2,500
- Buying new furniture such as beds, seating, tables, etc. as most of our furniture is old and damaged, or flat out missing as we couldn't take everything with us from Alabama = $3,000
Any and all help would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your kindness, and your consideration.
