Durham, NC has taken a severe weather hit in the last week although very little has been mentioned on the nationwide news channels. Many have had to evacuate and relocate due to the floods. My In-laws are among the group in Durham that has been hit the hardest. First, we are grateful that our family members are alive. Second, we are grateful that you have taken the time to read our story and help out in any way you can, be it financially, by reposting or prayer. We believe in the power of prayer.
On Monday July 7, 2025, my inlaws, Mrs. Wilhemina Richards and her daughter Ms. Cassandra Cobb, were awakened in the middle of the night and told to evacuate immediately as their home was flooded during a severe storm. They had to wade through water that was calf level. All they had time to do was grab their purses and phones and flee. Thank God the pickup truck worked well enough to get them to a nearby family member's home, but their other cars suffered water damage. The water rushed into their home as they escaped.
They could not grab clothes or any other belongings. The flood insurance inspectors are overwhelmed with all the homes damaged in their neighborhood. Some of their neighbors had to be rescued in boats. Their home is unlivable, Completely Uninhabitable, at the moment and they have to live in a local motel indefinitely. The next few months will be rough.
I will add more information as it is made available. Right now, our family appreciates any help for their day to day needs.
Thank You and God Bless.
