Please Help the Moody Family

My name is Mike Kappers, I've been asked by the Moody family to help set up a Go Fund Me page for Isaiah and their family. I've been a wrestling coach, and friend to the Moody family since I moved to Somerset in 1998. Darryl and I have been in constant contact since the day after the accident, checking on each of the kids' well-being. Darryl Moody and Tonya have been good parents. Here is their situation:
Saturday, February 11th just before 3 pm, 19-year-old Isaiah Moody was operating a motor vehicle traveling northbound on Hwy 65 just into Polk County on what's known as rollercoaster road. Paige Hanson was seated in the front seat on the passenger side. Alex and Ryan were backseat passengers. Ryan was seated behind Isaiah and Alex was seated in the middle next to Masen Powell, who was seated behind Paige. Although it sounds like everyone was wearing their seatbelts, the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle caught air and lost control when cresting the hill and crashed into two vehicles that were traveling southbound on Hwy 65 causing their vehicle to roll several times. Passersby pulled the Masen from the backseat passenger side of the vehicle and began CPR. Masen was pronounced dead at the scene. Ryan was the only person to gain consciousness and pull himself from the rolled vehicle. Passerby cut Alex from his safety belt and they began working on him until EMS arrived. Alex and Paige were in critical condition and both were airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Isaiah Moody and Ryan Sabrowsky were transported by ambulance to the Amery Hospital and later transported by ambulance to Regions Hospital as well.
Isaiah suffered from a cracked rib, bruised lungs, and a broken arm. Isaiah is scheduled for surgery this Friday.
Ryan Sabrowsky suffered a broken arm, and fractures to his back and pelvis. From the trauma from the crash, there was an air gap between his lungs and chest lining. Imaging showed that he did not have any punctures in his esophagus and was able to begin to eat and drink last night. No surgeries are needed at this time. They will reevaluate in a few weeks. Ryan is moving around pretty slowly but overall should eventually make a full recovery.
Regions performed several surgeries on Alex Sabrowsky on Saturday immediately after his arrival. Internal injuries of bilateral lung contusions, bilateral pneumothoraces, lacerated liver, lacerated kidney, lacerated spleen, ruptured bladder, damage to his large intestine that required sutures, adrenal gland infarct, shattered pelvis that required internal plates and screws and external hardware to try to hold everything in place. Alex is in critical but stable condition. He is on a ventilator, feeding tube, tons of meds, and chest tubes to drain the blood from the internal bleeding. His color is looking better and they are attempting to lower the amount of oxygen from the machine to make him start to breathe more on his own. Although things are looking better, he is far from being out of the woods and at the very minimum a very long road to recovery.
Paige was intubated at the scene and received many units of blood products. Due to blood loss, her blood pressure was low and she was started on norepinephrine. Upon arrival, Paige was sent straight to the OR with both trauma and orthopedic surgery teams. She had Right sided pulmonary contusion and pneumothorax. X-Ray showed her Pelvis had multiple fractures, multiple fractured ribs, Lumbar transverse process fractures, and sacral fractures. CT scan showed splenic rupture with active bleeding and her spleen was immediately removed. CT scan also showed liver laceration, kidney laceration, pulmonary lacerations, and pulmonary contusions. Paige received many blood products in surgery also. Bilateral Femoral Traction pins were placed for the management of pelvis fractures and she was brought to Gillette PICU for management.
Paige remains intubated and sedated in the PICU and underwent surgical fixation of the pelvis, front and back, left and right. She also had a cystogram to check for bladder damage. They removed the traction pins in her legs.
These are difficult times and the families will have a lot of financial hardships, the loss of time at work, fuel money, parking costs, meds, and insurance sounds like it's going to be an issue for some, and all the things that add up to a lot over time. Please help support the families during their time of need. Sounds like they were all wearing their seatbelts, and no alcohol was involved. An unfortunate situation where a young driver was driving too fast and failed to maintain control. It could happen to any of us or our children. Nobody is here to place blame, it's time to come together and help these kids and families heal. Please help them in their time of need. Send prayers to all the families involved and to the bystander that attempted CPR and helped extract the remaining passengers, EMS, and law enforcement personnel for being professionals in this tragic situation. Kiss your loved ones and warn them about the seriousness of situations like this one. We've all been there and now is the time for healing and helping.
