Please help the Macias-Rocha Family

Donation protected
Mr. George Macias has battled cancer for several years, and he has come to a point where his organs are now failing.

We, Andrews K-8 teachers who were fortunate to cross paths with George and his beloved family, are asking for support for them during this most trying time.

Throughout his daughter Ariel's years as a Wildcat, George Macias was a faithful volunteer. As early as her K-1 years in Mrs. Torres' class, George was an almost-daily volunteer at times. In Ariel's 3rd grade classroom, George was known as a tech guru, assisting Mrs. Mazzeo in a myriad ways--again, sometimes on an almost-daily basis.

George ultimately received the PTA's Honorary Service Award for his countless volunteer hours, but no one award could truly encompass the heart that he invested in each classroom environment. George built relationships with students, parents, teachers, and staff alike--and his signature smile and warmth were unmatched. Even as Ariel was in middle school and he was battling cancer, George supported her during field trips, parent conferences, and the like.

George and Salina, his partner of 14 years, live with their young daughters Amalia and Aria (along with Ariel) in a home owned by Salina’s father. Tragically, her father, Mr. Rodney Lawrence Rocha, passed away on December 18th in a car accident as he was headed home from work. It has been devastating for the family to lose such a loving, wonderful parent—especially in the midst of George’s declining health. Mr. Rocha was not only providing shelter for Salina, George, and their daughters--but was also helping Salina as a fellow caregiver for George and their daughters. This had been a great comfort for George--knowing that “his girls” would be taken care of when he was no longer with them.

It is the greatest wish of Mr. Macias' that Salina and daughters would be able to remain in this home. To make this a reality, the family is in need of financial assistance--in light of George’s current condition and Salina’s inability to work full time as she cares for George and the girls.

Your financial support through this campaign would assist the family with monthly mortgage payments, utilities, and basic living essentials like groceries and gas--for 2021.

Thank you for assisting and honoring this beautiful family with your support.  The greatest gift that we could provide Mr. Macias as well as Mr. Rocha would be that their treasured Salina, Ariel, Amalia, and Aria could remain in their family home.
