Please help the Keaton family bury their Son

Hello, I’ve set up this Go Fund Me page, hoping to assist my aunt and her family in their time of need. In October of 2022, my cousin Josh was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive form of Acute Myeloid Leukemia, coupled with a genetic mutation which resulted in a type of anemia preventing his body from processing and absorbing critical vitamins. Immediately after this crushing diagnosis, he was sent to Lexington, where he underwent several rounds of the most powerful chemotherapy known as “Red Devil.” Unfortunately, the battery of treatments were unable to halt the leukemia. Over the course of 15 months, he remained hospitalized at the facility, receiving a number of other chemotherapies and underwent countless medical procedures. During his stay at the hospital he developed a severe case of pneumonia and contracted a MRSA infection which led to sepsis. This past January the oncology team met with Josh to inform him that all options had been exhausted and he was discharged from the hospital. He was not prepared to give up and found a further two months of care at Charleston Area Medical Center, where they were successful in clearing up his pneumonia and MRSA. The good news was welcomed, but by this point his fight against the disease had taken its toll on his body. His leg muscles atrophied, robbing him of his independence and mobility. The chemotherapy and cancer withered him, transforming a once robust young man into a shadow of his former self. Tragically, the oncologists at Charleston came to the same conclusion as their counterparts in Lexington. Josh was released from their care and sent home. Over the next few weeks his decline accelerated to the point where he could no longer take his medication or respond to his family when spoken to. He passed away on April 7th , 2024 surrounded by his loving family. His loss is deeply grieved. The health of his mother and brother are poor as well, with the former dealing with congestive heart failure. On top of their emotional and physical hardships, the financial burdens of Josh’s care have placed an immense strain upon the family. No thirty-three year old man thinks of his days as being numbered and as such, he had no burial insurance or any other assets set aside to cover his final expenses. I’m creating this Go Fund Me page in hopes of raising any funds to help my aunt and her family in their darkest days. These much needed funds will be used to help them lay their beloved son and brother to rest. ANY donations sent will be most deeply appreciated. Speaking for myself and on behalf of Josh’s family, we thank you for your time and ask for your prayers and any assistance that you might be able to provide. Thank you and may God Bless you and your family. Services will be held at Preston's Funeral Home in Paintsville.
