Please Help the Family of Turner Phillips
Our family met the Phillips family in 2000. Turner and Ericka were three and in the same pre-school class when Turner asked parents (Renee and Hunter), if his new friend, Ericka, could come play with him. They had many playdates as youngsters and went on to attend the same schools. They also attended the same college and they graduated from UT-Chattanooga in the Spring of 2019.

Turner was home for Thanksgiving and returned to the Atlanta area to go back to work on Saturday night. While at work, he came down with flu-like conditions and when things became worse and he could not stand up on Wednesday, he went to an ER and after tests and biopsies were performed, a diagnosis of AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) was made and he was transferred to Northside Hospital. AML is a rare type of leukemia in which less that 20,000 cases are diagnosed each year. It involves various rounds of harsh aggressive inpatient chemotherapy treatments which will greatly compromise your autoimmune system. Turner had his first chemo treatment on Sunday, December 8th, one week after the onset of his symptoms. With the blink of an eye, life is changed.
It is unknown how long Turner will be in the hospital and moving him back to Nashville isn’t possible now. His family will have great expense in trying to care for him during his hospitalization, not only in lodging and gas expense to be there physically but missed work, medical out of pockets and deductibles and medication expense.
As a parent, I cannot fathom the stress that Renee and Hunter must feel as they grapple with how to deal with life at this time. Turner and Lilly are their world. They certainly want their focus to be on Turner and getting him well. This Go Fund Me account is being set up so that they can do this. Focus on Turner. Get Turner well. If you are family or friends or co-workers or students of or former students of Renee’s or clients of Hunter’s, or none of these, please donate. Any amount is appreciated as it can add up quickly if we all do what we can. Turner has spent numerous summers on mission trips helping others and his family needs our help now.

Most of all what is needed, is prayers. Please pray for Turner and his family at this very hard time. Because of his delicate status, deliveries of any type cannot be received but cards are welcome at their home address (1860 Shamrock Drive, Brentwood, TN 37027). I am sure any FB messages would also be shared. We will try to keep everyone updated on his status as things develop. Love and Prayers to sweet Turner.
