Please help the family of Dave Sigmund

Dear Friends and Family,

We are heartbroken to share the news that Dave Sigmund suffered a stroke and passed away, Sunday July 31st, 2022.

A few days prior, Dave began experiencing symptoms of dizziness and blurred vision. Dave sought medical attention at an urgent care. The provider believed his symptoms were the result of a virus. The next day he followed up with his primary care physician, who advised him to go to the ER if symptoms worsened. The day after that, Dave arrived at the hospital for a routine check-up, unrelated to his symptoms. He informed the nurse of his ongoing symptoms. However, there was not much concern for his symptoms and he went home. Later that night, Dave was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and it was determined that he had a blood clot in his brain. Surgery was performed to remove the clot, but it was not soon enough. He experienced major brain damage and ultimately lost his life.

Dave tried to take care of himself and sought professional help to determine what was causing his symptoms. It was an unfortunate series of missed opportunities to prevent serious damage. It cost Dave his life.

Dave was a dedicated family man. His family was the most important thing in his life. His wife and children are his greatest accomplishments. He always looked forward to quality time with his loved ones. He regularly planned family gatherings on Sundays and never passed up the opportunity to show love through his bar b que skills!

Dave had a big, welcoming smile and contagious laughter. He made everyone feel like a friend. He unapologetically gave the kind of advice no one wants to hear and was right 99% of the time. He was honest, caring and genuine.

Dave’s last act of kindness came in the generous act of being an organ donor. He saved two lives the day he lost his. Both of his kidneys were donated to others in need – one to a man in Iowa and one to a man in New York. Dave lives on in them and it brings some comfort knowing that two families have a little more time with their loved ones because of his generosity.

Dave leaves behind his wife Shannon Sigmund (Frank) and four children- Jane, Jake, Ben and Beck. His unexpected passing leaves a huge financial burden on his family for years to come. Please consider donating to help with medical and everyday expenses. Every little bit is greatly appreciated.
