Charles Freer, aka Golden Bear or Bear, passed after a very short illness in Sacramento on the 29th of May. Born in Stockton on March 5th, 1954, he was the proprietor of Bear Spirit Jewelry and Gifts in San Andreas, CA, established in 1981. Very proud of his Comanche blood, he was a descendant of Quanah Parker. Bear worked as a Native American spiritual leader for the Department of Corrections while also running Bear Spirit Jewelry. He performed weddings, sacred ceremonies, and funerals for the Native community; his Bear medicine was strong. He was a kind human being who would help anyone at any time; it was his calling. His passing was completely unexpected and has left the family caught off balance. I'm asking all that knew Bear to please donate something.
