Carlos “Sir” Azcona
September 19, 1961 – August 17, 2021
Carlos dedicated his life to his two loves: public service and his family. The son of a marine who served in Korea, Carlos began his own career in public service in 1985 as a park ranger for the City of San Jose. He went on to work in the Code Enforcement and the Housing Divisions where he helped hundreds of low-income families rehabilitate their homes. After his retirement from the City of San Jose in 2018, he continued his public service with the City of Santa Clara’s Housing Division.
The one day of the year when he could bring his two loves together was “Bring Your Kid to Work Day”. Carlos would organize excursions to Happy Hollow Park and Zoo, a firehouse or a local park making wonderful memories for not only his own family, but for his work-family as well. On these trips, his coworkers found it odd that his children would refer to him as “Sir”. It was first thought that Carlos was overly strict with his kids. The truth was that “Sir” was a term of endearment brought about by the movie “Toy Story”. The little green army men running around saying, “Sir, yes sir,” created a special connection between Carlos, his military upbringing, and his own special mini army.
Carlos and his beloved wife, Paula, chose the two hardest jobs in the world: Sole Bread Winner and Homemaker. Carlos took pride in working hard to give his six kids, Pablo, Javier, Ramiro, Raul, Xóchitl, and Joaquin a wonderful life filled with love and opportunities. Anyone who knew Carlos would tell you he was one of the hardest workers they knew. It is not known how much the family will need to cover the costs of the funeral and related needs, but any help is greatly appreciated. The family thanks you for all the support and love given during this difficult time.
May God bless you.
