Chris has been diagnosed with stage 4 RET Lung Cancer. It’s very rare. Less than 1% of people get this mutation of lung cancer. At this point there is no cure for his cancer. He will do 6 cycles of chemotherapy, one treatment every 3 weeks. The goal is to stop the growth and minimize it as much as possible. His oncologist is working on a trial looking for a cure. Someone is always the first when a cure is found, why not Chris!
Chris is 32 years old. He has been married to his sweet wife Taina since 2004. They have two adorable daughters, Mable (almost 4), and June (almost 2). Anyone who knows Chris will attest that he is one of the hardest working people they know. He is goal oriented and has worked hard on his road to success. Chris owns his own roofing company, CRF. He also does custom remodeling. He just completed his largest project doing the exterior of the lodge in Havasupai, AZ. While he was working there he thought he had pulled some muscles and caught a bad chest cold. Upon returning home, he went to a chiropractor for his ribs and an urgent care doctor for his cough and was told by both that he had pneumonia, he was then put on steroids and high doses of several antibiotics. Within a week he was rushed to the ER unable to breath. After running a plethora of tests Chris and his wife Taina were given the startling diagnoses of cancer that had spread from his lungs to his spleen, liver, and spine. Emergency measures were taken to spare his life. He had over 6 liters of fluid drained from his left lung and an aggressive shotgun approach of chemotherapy given. During his 17 day stay at the hospital he was failing and was sent to the ICU. It was as frightening as it can get. After many, many prayers given on his behalf, miracles took place and he is now home fighting for his life. Unfortunately they did not have insurance. Thankfully his application for Medicaid was accepted. But it does not cover the first few days he was admitted or the tests to diagnose the situation. The bill won’t be small!
Chris just completed his second chemo treatment. It was difficult, and yet his attitude is inspiring.
During this time he will be very limited on his ability to provide for his family and can use all the support he can get. This is the purpose for this Go Fund Me account. Many friends and family have come to the rescue already providing help completing jobs, help packing and moving to their new home, bringing in meals, and loving moral support. The love has been felt! So many have reached out in love and support asking how they can help. Prayers have been the most appreciated. Temporarily money is needed, as well, to sustain them during this extremely difficult time. Please help and donate what you can. It doesn’t have to be much. Even the small amounts will add up and be appreciated. They are in need of all the help they can get. Please feel free to share his story with anyone and everyone....
