Hi, I’m Sabrina! In September of 2019 I suffered a stroke that landed me in the hospital for two months fighting for my life. It has most definitely not been an easy road since getting home. I have been doing physical and occupational therapy three days a week since I’ve been home. Unfortunately, I have notprogressed as well as we all had hoped I would and am now in the process of applying for disability because it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to work again any time soon. So between my loss of income, the extra $540 a month it costs us for my therapies, and my THOUSANDS of dollars in medical bills, our savings is long gone and we were back to living paycheck to paycheck. Then Gary switched jobs and went three weeks before getting a paycheck from his new job, which left us in a super hard spot having to shuffle things around and prioritize which bills got paid and which ones had to wait. Our car payment is now 46 days past due which will got into repo mode here soon. And then three weeks ago while at work he had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance to find out he had to have emergency surgery for a life threatening situation but because our new insurance hadn’t taken effect yet it took a week before he got the surgery. Then after he had several complications which kept him in there longer. When he was finally released, he was home for just a few days when he started throwing up a lotand when I went to change his gauze I realized one of his surgical sites was leaking an alarming amount of brownish liquid and it had formed a large open hole. He went back to the ER to find out he was septic. He spent another week in the hospital being treated for sepsis. Though we are beyond grateful that he still has a job togo back to after being gone almost a month while still in his first 90 days there, we are drowning having gone another almost month without a paycheck.  Our rent is now due, nipsco, cell phone, everything. Like I said our car is most likely going to be repoed at this point and it’s our only car right now. We have $50 left to our name at this point. It feels like the weight of the world is on my shoulders right now and I’m backed into a corner, and I don’t know what to do. This past year had not been kind to us to say the least and we just can’t seem to catch a break. If you can find it in your heart to help us, I can’t even put into words how grateful we would be!
